Manchester United completed their final pre-season match yesterday against AC Milan in Poland.
AC Milan loss
Unfortunately, the game ended 4-2 in favour of AC Milan, and former manager Ruben Amorim took the bragging rights.
The Red Devils started perfectly when Harry Maguire scored after just two minutes, and they retook the lead through Patrick Dorgu early in the second half.
Nonetheless, an epic collapse in the final 35 minutes saw Milan take Manchester United apart in far too easy a fashion.
Many Manchester United players struggled immensely, such as Luke Shaw, but another player who failed to make any sort of positive impact was Matheus Cunha.
Cunha poor
The Brazilian had an incredible second half of the season last year and will, in all likelihood, be one of the team’s most important players this season.
It must also be said that this was just his second pre-season match and his first start.
Nonetheless, Cunha will be massively disappointed with his efforts.
He failed to produce a single shot on target or, in fact, even on goal despite starting in the number nine position.
Cunha managed just 13 touches of the ball and was unable to produce any sort of key pass during the game.
The forward was only able to find his intended target six times during the game, resulting in a passing percentage of 75%.
Defensively, he won his only tackle of the game and came out on top in two of his four duels.
Cunha was substituted after 61 minutes and replaced by Bryan Mbeumo when the scores were at 2-2.
The forward will clearly improve as he gets minutes in his legs, but the lack of forward options with Benjamin Sesko’s frustrating injury worries continues to be a concern.
