Roy Keane has made a bold prediction about Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
Clear the air
Fernandes enjoyed a superb 2025/26 season, playing a key role as United finished third and secured Champions League football after a two-year absence.
He broke the Premier League assist record, creating 21 goals, while also finding the back of the net nine times.
In June, Keane launched a ferocious attack against Fernandes in which he accused the Portugal international of prioritising individual accolades over the team’s success.
Keane labelled Fernandes’ pursuit of the assist record, which was previously held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, a “circus act.”
Fernandes offered a robust rebuttal, asserting that Keane had deliberately misrepresented his words. He contended that the comments had been twisted to advance a particular agenda or construct a specific portrayal. Fernandes also revealed that he had made attempts to personally speak with Keane and set the record straight.
Keane later disclosed that the pair had a lovely chat and are now on good terms.
As United prepare to kickstart their season this weekend against Hull City, Fernandes will likely play another big role in the team and will be central to any success he and his teammates enjoy.
Now, Keane has backed Fernandes to be as equally influential as he was in 2025/26.
Keane’s prediction
The 55-year-old was asked to predict who will win the Player of the Season.
He took time to think about his answer before finally naming Fernandes.
Keane then said, “Bruno Fernandes. He’s a brilliant player! I think if United are decent at the back, I think he can produce some magic.”
