Alejandro Balde may be one player to watch closely as Manchester United look to crown their summer 2026 transfer window with a left-back signing.
Bolstering the midfield and United’s left-hand side has been the priority for the Red Devils this summer.
Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba represent a ten-out-of-ten midfield rebuild from INEOS.
Left-back signing top of the agenda now
With transfer deadline day fast approaching, the focus now turns to making that left-back signing, paving the way for a formidable line-up that Michael Carrick can field game after game.
Lewis Hall was the dream signing at left-back, but he is unlikely to make the switch from St James’ Park to Old Trafford. Newcastle United do not want to lose him, and they are even keen to offer him a new deal with better terms to make that absolutely clear.
Consequently, alternatives to the Englishman have been eyed, and one player now being heavily linked is Balde. Reports suggest the left-back’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been in talks with Barcelona about his future.
A decision seems to have been made
It remains a mystery what was agreed in talks, but what is emerging is that the super-agent may be looking for a new destination for his client.
Interestingly, Jijantesfc claim that “Alejandro Balde will not continue at Barca. “The defender has decided to seek a move after recent talks and feelings within the club.
“Jorge Mendes is working to find him a team in this final stretch of the transfer window.” Balde’s decision to leave Barcelona, if true, therefore, marks a big development in the talk of his potential Camp Nou exit.
Fabrizio Romano update
That revelation will have many United fans feeling Balde is surely on his way out.
However, while some get excited over the news, Fabrizio Romano has dismissed claims that Balde is pushing for an exit. While he echoes claims that Mendes is working on a potential exit from Barcelona, he reaffirms, “Balde’s not pushing to leave; decision in the club’s hands.”
Regardless of whether Balde has truly decided to leave Barcelona, if INEOS really feel he is what this Man United team needs, now is the time to press for this deal.
They can capitalise on Balde’s and his camp’s doubts, tempting the Spanish champions with an offer they cannot refuse.
The Spaniard’s blistering pace, elite ball-carrying, and aggressive attacking runs could massively revolutionise the Red Devils’ left-hand side.

TPP view
We believe there is likely some truth to reports of Balde reaching a decision over his Barcelona future. Talks over his future would not be necessary unless a decision had already been made.
