Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams’ career has taken another turn for the worse after a Rotherham United setback.
Woes deepen
Williams is looking to revive his career after he was handed a suspended 14-month prison sentence for dangerous driving last year.
He was released by United in the summer of 2024 following the expiry of his contract. While at United, he spent time on loan at Norwich City and Ipswich Town but both clubs opted against signing him permanently.
The former academy prospect then found himself out of the game for 20 months. He has been forthcoming about the mental and physical difficulties he encountered. In comments made as recently as this month, Williams stated his intention to use his experiences as a cautionary and instructive example for emerging talents.
He had a brief stint at Hull City but left by mutual consent in February, having made just one five-minute substitute appearance.
Williams had been training with Rotherham since June in an effort to try and earn but now, it has been confirmed that he will not be offered one and as such, has parted ways with the League Two outfit.
Setback
According to the Rotherham Advertiser, Williams is currently training elsewhere after an unsuccessful trial.
It’s understood that the Millers have other recruitment priorities, meaning that Williams’ search for a club continues.
The 25-year-old played seven friendly games for Rotherham and remained as part of their camp after the start of the League Two campaign.
Williams was training with them up until last week, though he has not been present since the weekend.
He made more than 50 appearances for United after breaking into the first team under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Meanwhile, United return to action on Sunday when they welcome Ipswich to Old Trafford.
