Bombshell update: The doors to a late move for Alejandro Balde have opened up after Hansi Flick’s brutal call

It seemed like Manchester United’s plans to add Alejandro Balde from Barcelona had hit a dead end.

Barcelona were insisting on a permanent sale, while the Red Devils were hoping to sign the Catalan on an initial loan with an option to make his move permanent next summer.

The left-back also wanted to stay at Camp Nou and fighting for his place, but The Athletic have revealed an interesting update.

The 22-year-old was an unused substitute on Tuesday for the third game running, and Hansi Flick does not seem to rate the Spain international highly.

As a result, the doors to a late move to Old Trafford have seemingly opened up. But INEOS need to hurry with time running out.

“United have been looking at loans, and Alejandro Balde being an unused substitute last night for Barcelona perhaps opens the door on that situation again.

“But the reality is the deadline is close and it would require much work,” Laurie Whitwell’s latest update read.

The 20-time English league champions’ need for a left-back is pretty apparent if one looks at the options at Michael Carrick‘s disposal.

Luke Shaw is his only recognised senior option, and so far this new season, the Englishman has struggled for form.

His injury record is not too good either, and with academy graduate Harry Amass linked with an exit, United must act fast.

Jorge Salinas of Racing Santander is another option, as INEOS try and agree a late loan deal.

However, Racing Santander are insisting on a permanent deal due to the player’s relatively low asking price.
