Jack Moorhouse is set for a transfer deadline day departure from Manchester United with a loan move to Dundee FC, according to reports.
Moorhouse has attracted interest from many clubs throughout the summer, including Everton, but Scottish Premiership side Dundee appear to have won the race with a loan move.
The 20-year-old had a mixed loan spell with Leyton Orient last season, making 22 appearances before his loan was cut short in January.
Nathan Salt of the Daily Mail has reported that “Jack Moorhouse is set to head to Dundee on loan from Manchester United.”
The move has also been reported by Simon Stone of the BBC, who tweeted, “Young [Manchester United] midfielder Jack Moorhouse to Dundee on loan for the season.”
Spoilt for choice
It has been reported that Moorhouse attracted interest from Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Stockport County in England, as well as further interest from clubs in the Netherlands and Poland.
After a loan in England’s League One last season, Moorhouse has chosen to go north of the border to Scotland this time, as he hopes for a more successful loan spell.
The Irish youth international has been capped at U21 level, and a successful loan could see him move onto the radar of the senior Ireland team.
The move will see him join fellow Ireland youth international Jacob Devaney on loan in Scotland. Devaney was recently awarded man of the match on his debut for Hibernian after securing a second loan move to Scotland.
An exciting talent
An attacking midfielder who loves to dribble, Moorhouse will be hoping to use his direct style of play to excite the Dundee faithful.
Excelling when given space to run into, Moorhouse is most dangerous when he can turn with the ball at his feet and run at opposition backlines. It is a skill he has demonstrated extensively at youth level, but he struggled to perform consistently at Leyton Orient against more physical opponents.
However, on his day, he was able to put in performances that garnered praise from Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens, who labelled Moorhouse as “outstanding”.
With a bit more experience under his belt, the youngster is sure to be a bright spark for Dundee if he can find his form.
United connection
Moorhouse will link up with two former Manchester United academy products at Dundee, Ethan Hamilton and Kieran O’Hara. Neither appeared for United’s first team before departing the club in 2020.
After leaving Manchester United, Hamilton largely plied his trade in League One with clubs such as Lincoln City and Accrington Stanley before moving to Dundee in August 2025.
O’Hara joined Dundee a few weeks later in September 2025 from Kilmarnock and made two senior international appearances for the Republic of Ireland in 2019.
