Rafael was named Man of the Match after a fantastic performance for Manchester United in their 2-1 win over West Ham.
The Brazilian was in top form at right-back and caused West Ham serious problems on the right flank.
West Ham were unable to deal with Rafael’s pace and drive and he was rewarded for his great work early on when his cross found Wayne Rooney who turned it into the net.
The second half saw Rafael more on the defensive foot as United were pinned back after Rooney was sent off but Rafael stood strong and helped United gain a vital three points.
Rafael: “In the first half we played brilliant football and could have scored more goals. That’s the way we need to play.”
Rafael’s performance today was reminiscent of his best swashbuckling form and it’s great to see him back to that level after struggling with injuries so far this season.
At right-back, United have very few options apart from Rafael so it is important he stays fit and is on form, so today’s match against West Ham will have filled him with confidence.
