Paul Pogba: Former Man United star makes stunning return to action

Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba has endured a nightmare season so far.

Ban

After leaving Old Trafford in the summer of 2022, Pogba returned to Juventus but suffered serious injury problems during his first campaign back in Italy.

His situation became significantly worse when he received a four-year ban for doping offences.

On appeal, this was reduced to 18 months, and he joined AS Monaco last summer.

Once again, however, injury has reared its ugly head, and he has only been able to play three matches from the bench for the French side. To make matters worse, he has not played a competitive minute since November either.

AS Monaco boss Sébastien Pocognoli admitted back in February that the club had no idea when Pogba would be fit to play again, which is a massive red flag for his future in professional football.

Relief at last

Mundo Deportivo report, however, that finally there has been some positive news in Pogba’s story.

The report explained that, “Paul Pogba, 33, a 2018 World Cup winner, who has been out for three months with a leg injury, returned to play on Thursday and even scored in a friendly match for Monaco against Brentford’s Under-23 team.”

The ball bounced out to him on the edge of the area, and he rifled the ball into the bottom corner in trademark fashion.

It was, unbelievably, Pogba’s first goal since scoring for Manchester United in a 1-1 draw with Burnley back in 2022.

The match was played at La Turbie training centre, with Monaco losing 1-2 to the young Premier League team.

The former United man played 25 minutes of the encounter, and it has already been confirmed that he will train with the first team again after the international break.

There is still no exact timeline for Pogba’s return to competitive action, but there now seems to be a significantly clearer pathway to this. What’s more, unless he suffers a setback, it appears highly probable that fans will see the midfielder in action again before the season is over.
