Former Manchester United star Casemiro has not had the easiest start to life at his new club, Inter Miami.

First games for Miami

After leaving Manchester United in the summer, he joined up with the Brazilian national squad for the World Cup.

The midfielder did not have much of a break after their exit from the tournament, though, and he joined up with his new club right away.

He played in Inter Miami’s 1-0 win over Montreal but had a far less successful time against Columbus Crew in a 2-2 draw.

The midfielder gave the ball away and ended up scoring an own goal while trying to clear the ball from the box.

He also failed to complete his only dribble attempt and won just one out of his three aerial duels.

Investigation

There have also been issues regarding his transfer, as an investigation is being held into his move to Inter Miami.

This is largely due to the fact that Los Angeles Galaxy believe they are owed more compensation for his discovery rights.

In the latest update, the BBC relay comments from the Galaxy’s general manager, Will Kuntz, regarding the issue.

He defended the move for Casemiro, stating, “it is true that Casemiro called and said that he always wanted to play for Inter Miami. It’s also true that came two months after he told us that he only wanted to play for the Galaxy.”

Casemiro himself has also been clear on the issue, stating, “in the end, (Miami)’s a city I love. My wife, my kids and I are always here when we have days off. We know the city. When I spoke to [the Galaxy], I made it very clear which team I wanted to join in the MLS and that is Inter Miami because of the project.”

The 34-year-old will next be in action against Mexican side Atlético San Luis on 6th August.
