Jean-Philippe Mateta’s representatives pushing hard to find a solution
According to TEAMtalk, Jean-Philippe Mateta is determined to leave Crystal Palace in the final days of the transfer window.
The French striker’s representatives are working hard to find him a new club, and Manchester United are among those approached about a potential move.
Mateta has been looking to leave Crystal Palace for much of the last 12 months and reportedly also challenged the validity of the final 10 months of his Palace contract. However, as things stand, the contract remains in place.
The 29-year-old started for the South London outfit in their 2-0 defeat at Everton over the weekend.
Still, it is understood Mateta remains desperate to leave before the 1 September transfer deadline and his representatives are “now actively working through several possibilities.”
Manchester United assessing forward options
The report claims United, who have been contacted alongside Tottenham Hotspur, could move for Mateta if there is a major departure.
Both Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford continue to face uncertain futures at Old Trafford.
For the right price, Mateta could prove to be an excellent option for United, given his Premier League experience.
Over the last two seasons, the 6’4″ forward has scored 26 goals in the Premier League and has impressed with his hold-up play.
