Manchester United have learned where they will play their Champions League group clash against Como.

Champions League beckons

Last week, United learned their opponents for the group stage of the 2026/27 Champions League.

United will face Bayern Munich at home, Atletico Madrid away and two Champions League debutants in Como of Italy and Sabah from Azerbaijan.

It’s the first time United will be playing in the competition since the 2023/24 campaign when they won just one of six games under the former format. United’s path to the knockout rounds is clear: a top-eight finish would earn them automatic progression, while a finish between ninth and 24th would see them contest a play-off round for a place in the next stage.

Over the weekend, United discovered the dates of their group games.

A report covered by The Peoples Person indicated that Michael Carrick and his players had yet to learn the exact venue of their meeting with Como.

The club, managed by Cesc Fabregas, had been left in limbo as they awaited official word from UEFA on whether their stadium would be approved for Champions League games.

Sassuolo’s stadium had been suggested as a possible backup venue, though Nathan Salt of the Daily Mail has now confirmed that will not be required.

Venue confirmed

Salt reveals that Como have been given the green light to host Champions League matches at their Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium after three months of renovations.

Como authorised the necessary works immediately upon the conclusion of the 2025/26 season. The refurbishment entailed the removal of a temporary stand and the erection of a new concrete structure in its place.

Further upgrades saw a new playing surface laid, lengthened by 2.5 metres, while the tunnel and dugouts were also repositioned.

United will face Como on 21 October, with the game kicking off at 17:45 BST.
