Manchester United have not started the season as they would have wanted.
They have just four points from four league games, and this is in spite of having a favourable start on paper.
Injuries
World Cup years are never easy, as some of a club’s top players take longer to come back into pre-season and reach match fitness.
What’s more, United have not been helped by long-term injuries to key players such as Matthijs de Ligt.
New signing Carlos Baleba has also not kicked a ball for the side yet and will not until October after the international break.
Another player who has not played all season is winger Amad.
He had an impressive World Cup with the Ivory Coast and would have been looking to build on this positive momentum, but was ruled out of the first game of the season with an injury.
Recovery
Journalist Sully has reported some good news, though, that the tricky winger’s return is just around the corner.
He reports that, “it is also thought that Amad is recovering well from an injury that has kept him out of all five of United’s fixtures so far this campaign.”
The journalist also adds, “Amad performed well in pre-season and last campaign on the right flank, and his injury forced Bryan Mbeumo to vacate the striker position he had been operating well in in the summer, and his return will give Carrick new options.”
Amad played 33 matches last season, scoring two goals and providing four assists across all competitions.
If he returns after the international break, he could be in line to start against Tottenham Hotspur on the 10th of October.
