JJ Gabriel has reportedly turned up the pressure on Manchester United to immediately let him leave with a drastic step taken on Tuesday.
Gabriel shocks United
Moments ago, news broke that Gabriel has officially asked to quit United, the club he has played for since the age of 11.
Gabriel is widely seen as United’s best and brightest prospect, with the teenager tipped to make his first-team debut this season.
However, in a stunning twist, it has emerged that he has informed United to cancel his registration with immediate effect.
United do not believe the situation is irretrievable and have not yet accepted Gabriel’s request. It’s understood the Red Devils can challenge Gabriel’s request to cancel his registration. As it stands, he does not have a next destination lined up, although it’s almost certainly guaranteed that he will be spoilt for choice.
Under Premier League rules, all parties must come to an agreement to end a registration period early.
The rules state, “During your child’s registration period, their registration may only be cancelled if everyone agrees (the club, player and their parent/carer).” The rules further state, “If the parties don’t agree, then any person involved can also ask the Premier League to provide a binding decision on a termination request.”
Simon Stone of the BBC has shared more on the developing situation noting, “Huge news. JJ Gabriel on the verge of leaving Manchester United.”
“Breakdown in relationship between family and club. Man Utd not given up hope of turning the situation round. Gabriel has contract to end of season and was expected to make senior debut tomorrow night.”

Drastic action
Gabriel making it into the squad for Wednesday’s Carbao Cup against Brighton has been confirmed by Tyrone Marshall of the Manchester Evening News.
However, according to Marshall, this will no longer happen after Gabriel failed to train on Tuesday.
“JJ Gabriel now won’t be included in the Manchester United squad to face Brighton tomorrow after he decided not to train on Tuesday.”
“Has told Manchester United he wants to leave the club. Plan had been for him to be involved.”
