United close to agreeing record-breaking deal with 32-yo, announcement expected in coming weeks

Bruno Fernandes’ Old Trafford fears eased as breakthrough reached over captain’s future

Worrying news broke on Sunday evening about Bruno Fernandes.

David Ornstein reported that contract extension talks were indeed taking place, but that no breakthrough had been reached. Instead, he described an impasse.

The revelation, which casts doubt on the Premier League Player of the Year’s future at the club, was concerning. It would be scandalous were United to fail to hold on to their crème de la crème, their skipper, who swept the league’s individual awards after a revolutionary season in which he set a new assists record. The prospect alone was enough to worry the twenty-time English champions and their fans.

Fernandes’ current deal at the club runs until the summer of 2027, while the Red Devils hold an option to extend it by a further year. Surely, then, tying him down to a new contract now is the obvious move.

As influential and as deserving as he has been while wearing the Manchester United shirt, Ineos surely owe it to themselves to do everything possible to keep the Portuguese magnifico for as long as they can.

Man United ready bumper deal to keep Bruno Fernandes

Well, according to Football Fan Cast, that is exactly what they have decided to do.

The outlet claims:

“FootballFanCast sources understand a deal is now close, and it would see Fernandes become the highest-paid player in Manchester United’s history, as well as the second highest-paid player in the entire Premier League behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.”

According to their claims, the deal is a three-year contract running until 2029. The agreement will also include an option for a further year and a release clause.

An announcement is expected in the coming weeks, with just the finer details left to iron out.

A new deal for Fernandes would be a huge win for the twenty-time English champions.

Fernandes deserves a big win at Man United

With ambitions of returning to the top, the playmaker has everything required to take them there.

This team just has to share his ambition and fight alongside him to bring glory back to Old Trafford. In the end, that is the best gift they can offer one of United’s finest number eights.

I’d rather we sell him in January. This season is going to be a write off and we need to move on from as much of this current squad as we can. No one from the Ole/ETH/Amorim era save the group that was brought in last summer should be at the club anymore. Also, Bruno showed vs Man City exactly what he’s done in a lot of big games, mainly that he can go missing and end up being a net negative to the team. Please don’t turn around and pay him 400K a week to be the talisman of a shit team for 3 more seasons all while saying we can’t pay other players top wages because of mistakes made in the past. Fans that think this is a good move are basically rubberstamping Glazer/INEOS stupidity even further.
