“Certainly possible”: Erik ten Hag gives blood-curdling warning to Man United fans

Manchester United have endured a horror start to the season, one to rival any blood-curdling Halloween scary movie session.

Horror run

The Red Devils have incredibly won just one of their first nine league matches.

What’s more, they have gone two months without a league win since beating Ipswich Town 5-2 in August.

The 0-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge was their fourth of the league season, and they have accumulated just seven points from a possible 27 in an embarrassing run of form.

They also find themselves out of the relegation zone only on goal difference, and with tough matches against Aston Villa, Liverpool, Brentford, and Newcastle United ahead, the next three points are far from obvious.

Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag managed the club between 2022 and 2024 and won the League Cup and FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford.

Speaking to ESPN, the former head coach had a troubling message for his former club.

When asked about the possibility of United being relegated, he claimed, “in the Premier League it’s certainly possible, because all the teams are simply strong.”

He elaborated, “they’re all strong squads, all good managers. And if you end up on the wrong side once and you really get into that vicious circle — yes, then it can become very, very difficult.”

Ten Hag finished off his comments on the issue by stating, “the Premier League is so strong and when you hit a difficult spell, yes, then you really have a problem.”

The Red Devils do not have long to turn it around, as they will take on AS Roma on Tuesday night in the Champions League.

The match will kick off at 20:00 GMT at Old Trafford.
