An update has been provided on the future of former Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho.
Released
In June, United confirmed that they would be letting Sancho leave the club upon the expiry of his contract.
Sancho failed to live up to the massive fee that United forked out to lure him away from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. He endured struggles with both form and consistency, a situation compounded by a fractious relationship with the club’s hierarchy, and Erik ten Hag in particular.
While at United, the club loaned him to Dortmund, Chelsea and most recently, Aston Villa.
The Red Devils held the option of triggering a 12-month extension to his deal, which would have allowed them to command a fee for his departure. In the end, however, they chose not to, instead allowing him to walk away for nothing.
Now a free agent, Sancho is on the hunt for his next adventure. A return to Dortmund has been mooted, while a report covered by The Peoples Person also named Atletico Madrid’s interest in him. A move has yet to materialise.
Al Rayyan, of Qatar, also looked into a deal but ultimately decided against pushing forward with it.
Sky Sports have now issued an update on Sancho’s situation.
