Manchester United have already missed out on three of their top midfield targets, much to the dismay of their fans.

Initially, the Red Devils were priced out of moves for Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali, which forced INEOS to knock on West Ham’s door.

Mateus Fernandes, who was keen to play alongside his idol, Bruno Fernandes, was seen as a sureshot arrival despite the Hammers’ exorbitant valuation.

However, Tottenham Hotspur’s late push stunned United, with the North London club blowing the 20-time English league champions away with their mega offer.

United have been forced to look at Alex Scott following Mateus Fernandes heartbreak

Although the Portugal international insisted that his decision was not motivated by money, it is clear that financial factors played a role.

Now, the Old Trafford side are targeting Alex Scott of Bournemouth, and even that chase might prove futile as per The BBC.

The Cherries are keen to stave off competition for the Englishman’s signature, and they have already blocked an approach from Arsenal.

The 22-year-old will also not come cheap. Should United face disappointment for a fourth time, they will quickly pivot to Scott’s teammate, Tyler Adams.

Tyler Adams emerges as Plan B

“After missing out on Fernandes, United are assessing the situation.

“They have most recently been linked with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, although Arsenal have already been told the 22-year-old is not for sale and his current club are keen to tie him down to a long-term contract.

“A second Bournemouth midfielder in Tyler Adams and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba have also been mentioned.”

The American, who is shining at the World Cup, is a more readymade option for the defensive midfield position and United analysts feel the USA international is even better than Manchester City’s Rodri at certain aspects.

Tyler Adams would also cost significantly less. Whether INEOS proceed or they keep chasing Scott remains to be seen.
