Manchester United need left-wing reinforcements ahead of the new campaign, with Michael Carrick currently without a specialist in that position.
Last season, he had to make do with Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu, but this time around, the head coach wants INEOS to address this issue.
There are talks of reintegrating Marcus Rashford into the squad, but both the Red Devils and the Mancunian would prefer a clean break at this point.
Until the Englishman’s future is resolved, United are unlikely to act, and this delay has already seen them miss out on Crysencio Summerville.
United’s hunt for a left winger
A new name that has recently been linked with a move to Old Trafford is Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe, with the 23-year-old having previously plied his trade in the English top flight for Norwich City.
Since leaving these shores, his game has gone up a notch. The England Under-21 international made a name for himself with Olympique Marseille before moving to the Serie A side last summer.
In his debut season in Italy, Jonathan Rowe scored eight goals while registering five assists in all competitions.
Naturally, that has meant he has attracted plenty of interest from English clubs alongside United, with TEAMtalk revealing that Everton have enquired about the Bologna ace.
Jonathan Rowe emerges as a target
David Moyes is interested in concluding a deal soon, but Bologna will demand a premium fee considering they only signed the player one season ago.
“Everton have made enquiries about Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe, with TEAMtalk understanding the England Under-21 international has emerged as a serious attacking target for David Moyes this summer.
“The Toffees are continuing to reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign, and sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Rowe is among the players being closely considered as Everton look to add greater pace, creativity and energy in the final third.
“TEAMtalk understands several Premier League clubs have been monitoring the 23-year-old throughout the summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United all making enquiries into his situation over recent months.
Everton looking to beat United in the race
“Everton have now entered that race. Sources have told TEAMtalk the Merseyside club have held firm discussions over the conditions of a potential deal as they assess whether a move can be made before the transfer window closes.”
Bologna had acquired the former Norwich ace for around £17 million, and given he still has three years left on his deal, they will likely demand three times that amount.
Whether United will go all out to trump the Toffees in the race remains to be seen.
