Manchester United Women are preparing for a return to action this summer.
Pre-season preparations
The Red Devils had a mixed campaign last season, reaching the final of the League Cup and the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Nonetheless, they will have been bitterly disappointed to miss out on Champions League qualification for the coming season. United recently returned to pre-season training as they prepare for the new campaign.
Marc Skinner’s side have also announced plans for a trip to Spain to take on Newcastle United.
New season fixtures announced
The new fixtures for the Women’s Super League season have been announced, with some intriguing dates lined up for the side.
The club’s official website reports, “the Reds start the campaign with a mouthwatering away trip, as we play the ambitious London City Lionesses on the opening weekend.” United will face their former goalkeeper Mary Earps, who completed a move to the Lionesses earlier in the summer.
The fascinating match-up will take place at 19:00 BST on Friday, 4th September.
The first home game of the season will be against arch-rivals Chelsea at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday, 13th September at 12:00 BST.
There will then be a tricky trip to Arsenal to end a tough opening three matches for United.
Another interesting date for United fans to consider is the first match-up against reigning champions Manchester City and Liverpool.
United will welcome City to Leigh Sports Village on 4th October and then Liverpool on the 25th of the same month.
The season will conclude on the weekend of 22nd-23rd May when the Red Devils face Brighton & Hove Albion.
