Manchester United are preparing for another Premier League season, aiming to build on last year’s third-place finish.
The Red Devils will face double European champions Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday in a huge test for Michael Carrick’s side before the start of the season.
United will begin their campaign against newly promoted Hull City on Saturday, 22nd August.
Measures to improve atmosphere
In recent years, the club has tried to give the team extra chances of being successful by introducing measures to enhance the atmosphere at Old Trafford.
The club has trialled safe standing zones in certain sections of the stadium.
What’s more, United have also permitted banners to appear before matches and have also designed and displayed Tifos before European matches.
New fanzone
The club’s official website has highlighted another method by which the club hopes to enhance the fan experience on match days.
The site reports, “Manchester United has today unveiled plans for its first-ever permanent matchday fan zone at Old Trafford, offering supporters a space to meet fellow Reds and enjoy the pre-match build up together.”
It is explained that, “‘The Paddock’ will sit just 15 metres behind the Stretford End, making it the closest place to the stadium to enjoy great local food, drink, and lively entertainment.”
The area will accommodate around 1,300 fans and will be free to enter before and after matches at the iconic stadium.
Rick McGagh, Director of Fan Engagement at Manchester United, said, “we are delighted that in partnership with Levy, we have implemented a wide range of changes to enhance matchdays, bringing greater choice and better service for supporters across the stadium – something fans have told us they want.”
The area is expected to be in operation by the autumn.
