Andre Onana: Man United goalkeeper caught up in terrifying incident hours after playing

Manchester United’s on-loan keeper Andre Onana has been involved in a serious car crash in Turkey but is thankfully ok.

Season

Onana struggled massively during his two seasons at Old Trafford and was a pillar of inconsistency.

As a result, he was moved out on loan to Trabzonspor in Turkey and continued for a second season this year.

The Cameroonian keeper has impressed for the most part, keeping four clean sheets in five matches lately.

Nonetheless, he has still had the odd blunder in him as he conceded directly from a corner last week in the Conference League.

Incident

Onana was coming back from the match last night, which his side won 2-0 against Scottish side Heart of Midlothian.

The Sun newspaper reports that, “Andre Onana has cheated death in a terrifying road accident – with the Manchester United keeper’s car involved in a multi-vehicle pile-up.”

The report continues that the keeper and “his family were then caught up in a frightening drama as he drove home after the game.”

The paper describes the incident as “another vehicle reportedly crashed into the 30-year-old’s car from behind at high speed – shunting the luxurious silver vehicle into the back of the car in front of him.”

Emergency services raced to the scene on the Yomra road close to the Black Sea, and the keeper was taken to hospital.

Fortunately, he was discharged after medical checks.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan released a statement commenting, “Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

It remains to be seen whether he will be in condition to play in Trabzonspor’s next match on Monday evening against Çaykur Rizespor.
