As things stand, Manchester United are unlikely to be signing Alejandro Balde from Barcelona as backup for Luke Shaw.
After spending big on the midfield, INEOS are reluctant to go all out for the 22-year-old, partly because they are planning to go back for their dream target, Lewis Hall, next summer.
That explains why the Red Devils tried to negotiate a loan deal for the Barca ace, something the La Liga champions turned down.
Even the Spanish international would prefer to stay and fight for his place at the Camp Nou, but Hansi Flick does not seem to be as enthusiastic.
Barcelona want to get rid of Alejandro Balde
The Catalan ace is yet to feature for the first team this season, with Barcelona trying their hardest to move him on permanently before deadline day.
United’s loss could be AC Milan’s gain, as MilanNews24 have reported that Ruben Amorim has his eyes on Alejandro Balde.
However, the Rossoneri are also offering an initial loan, which means a solution is far from being in sight.
“In recent days, AC Milan’s management has held a series of contacts with Barcelona to explore the feasibility of a deal for Alejandro Balde. The Milanese club’s goal is to bring the player to Italy on loan with an option to buy.
AC Milan interested in loan deal
“The option of a permanent purchase, for a fee around €40 million, had blocked the deal from the outset.
“However, it’s not just AC Milan who are pursuing the player: Manchester United have also set their sights on him and are preparing a loan offer with an option to buy. If Barcelona were to open up to a loan, AC Milan could also be interested.
“Right now, the crucial factor favoring the Rossoneri is the player’s preference. The Spaniard is strongly attracted to the AC Milan project.”
United have a similar idea
If Barca warm up to the idea of an initial loan, INEOS will also be back in business. An interesting end to the window awaits.
Other United targets include Ian Maatsen and David Raum, but both deals are looking unlikely as things stand.
