Manchester United Women are on the verge of losing yet another player this summer.

Summer of flux

Manchester United Women have already experienced significant change this summer, with numerous players leaving the club.

Senior stars Leah Galton, Hannah Blundell, Millie Turner, and Lisa Naalsund have all departed.

Superstar French striker Melvin Malard was also signed by arch-rivals Chelsea.

This week also saw the blockbuster news that head coach Marc Skinner had left the club just four weeks before the start of the new season.

The Red Devils have signed Andrea Medina and Janina Leitzig, but another departure looks set to be confirmed very shortly.

Gabby George

Gabby George joined the club from Everton in 2023 and has made 54 appearances, scoring one goal.

She was part of the 2024 FA Cup-winning side and helped United reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season. The BBC reports that George will probably have played her last game for the club.

The article states that, “Manchester United defender Gabby George is closing in on a move to Brighton before the start of the Women’s Super League season.”

The 29-year-old has just one year left on her deal, and it is expected that the Seagulls will pay a six-figure transfer fee for the versatile defender.

The BBC adds, “it is understood that George is seeking regular game time, and she would be a valuable addition to Brighton’s ambitious squad.” United still have much to address this summer as they are on the lookout for a new manager.

What’s more, they will need to bolster their squad ahead of a new season in which they will be competing in three different tournaments.

The Peoples Person Reliability Assessment

Overall credibility: 9/10

Why?

✅ Reported by Tier 1 source on Women’s football
✅ Manchester United Women have been selling numerous older players this summer
✅ The Red Devils clearly need to sell to buy according to previous deals/summers

TPP View
We believe that Manchester United Women have sold numerous older stars this summer, and selling George would likely fit this strategy for a player who has never really consolidated a first-team spot.
