Manchester United have strongly hinted at when midfielder Youri Tielemans could make his bow for the club.
Major coup
Heading into the current transfer window, it was an open secret that United’s top priority was bolstering their midfield.
With Casemiro leaving as a free agent and Manuel Ugarte sidelined by a long-term injury sustained at the World Cup, United’s need for midfield additions became increasingly pressing.
Compounding matters was United’s failure to secure top targets Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, with the pair ultimately moving to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. These setbacks forced the Red Devils to cast a wider net.
United turned their attention to Andrey Santos, moving with speed to strike a ÂŁ50m deal with Chelsea. Santos has caught the eye in pre-season and appears to be a shrewd acquisition. But nothing caught the football world off guard quite like the Tielemans deal. It came from absolutely nowhere.

It’s probably one of the fastest deals United have ever got done. Even more striking is that nobody caught wind of it until the deal was already sealed.
Tielemans reported to Carrington for training last week and now, United have hinted when he could make his debut.
Debut date
Tielemans was absent from last weekend’s clash with Atletico Madrid, presumably because the fixture arrived a little too quickly after his integration into training
United, though, have suggested he could be in contention for Saturday’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
“The Belgium captain is training with his new team-mates after ending his post-FIFA World Cup break last week.”
“Although Michael Carrick has yet to select his travelling squad for Gothenburg, which will be released first on our official channels, our recent recruit from Aston Villa may be available for the first time since the transfer.”
Tielemans found the back of the net for Aston Villa when they met PSG in the Champions League during the 2024/25 season.
What a fairytale start it would be if he repeated the trick on Saturday and kickstarted his United career in style.
