Whoever thought Myles Lewis-Skelly was definitely set to stay at Arsenal would be stunned by what has now been said.
Lewis-Skelly Arsenal exit talk
Last week brought a revelation that the young Gunner had been offered around, with Manchester United and Chelsea the notable sides given a chance to sign him.
While some were keen to see how the situation panned out, however, interesting updates soon dropped.
Claims from Arsenal suggested it was not accurate that Lewis-Skelly had been offered around, while the player himself seemed determined to stay at the Emirates Stadium. This denial dashed United’s hopes of signing the left-back.
However, just as we thought the 19-year-old should surely be crossed off the list of Lewis Hall transfer alternatives at left-back, life has been breathed back into this transfer.
Arsenal CEO comments on Lewis-Skelly’s situation
When asked about the Lewis-Skelly situation, specifically the teenager being linked with an exit, Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick admitted as per the Manchester Evening News:
“There’s been a lot of speculation around players.
“I can’t stop other clubs being interested. I think Myles has had a fantastic end to last season and has started this one really well – we’re very, very happy with him.
“We are not actively looking at selling those homegrown players but if the right opportunity came up – right for them and the club – we’d obviously consider that.”

If any of Lewis-Skelly’s suitors needed motivation to pursue this deal, surely there it is.
Given Arsenal’s transfer activity, it should not be hard for a club like Man United to convince the young Englishman of a key role, something the English champions cannot afford to promise after acquiring Bruno Guimarães and going through with the permanent Piero Hincapié transfer.
Once sold on the project, it may come down to INEOS submitting a tempting offer, with £45 million likely enough to strike a deal.
After the Carlos Baleba transfer, there is no doubt landing Myles Lewis-Skelly would certainly round off a ten-out-of-ten transfer window for INEOS.

We believe Arsenal are deliberately nudging Lewis-Skelly’s suitors into action. The timing of these comments, surfacing just after claims the player had been offered around, suggests the Gunners’ clear desire to do business.
