Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo scored his first goal of the season in the 5-2 win over Ipswich Town last weekend. The Cameroonian forward has now been recognised for his performance against the Tractor Boys.
Mbeumo arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2025 as one of the most exciting attackers in the Premier League. Fresh from his exploits with Brentford, he was expected to help the fallen giants mount a resurgence and reclaim their place among Europe’s elite.
The Cameroonian ended his debut campaign at the Theatre of Dreams as the Red Devils’ joint top scorer alongside Benjamin Sesko. Mbeumo finished the 2025/26 season with 12 goals and three assists in 34 appearances across competitions for United.

The Cameroonian played a key role in the Red Devils’ third-place finish in the Premier League last season, which earned them a place in this campaign’s Champions League. Mbeumo was heavily involved with the first team in pre-season and is expected to help the team reach a higher level under Michael Carrick this campaign.
Mbeumo’s 2026/27 season so far
Mbeumo started United’s game against Hull City at the MKM Stadium on opening day. While the Red Devils suffered a shock 2-0 defeat, the Cameroonian’s relentless running did not go unnoticed.
He retained his place in the starting XI against Ipswich Town, playing the entire 90 minutes and registering 22 sprints. The 27 year old also managed three key passes and hit the woodwork once.
Mbeumo scored United’s final goal of the game, effectively sealing all three points. That strike has now earned him a major accolade.
Mbeumo wins United’s Goal of the Month
United have announced that Mbeumo’s 82nd-minute goal against Ipswich Town has won the club’s Goal of the Month for August. The report states: “Manchester United’s first Goal of the Month winner for the new 2026/27 season is Bryan Mbeumo.”
The Cameroonian was battling United skipper Bruno Fernandes for the prize. The Portuguese maestro scored a memorable hat-trick against the Tractor Boys, and was adjudged the Red Devils’ Player of the Month for August.
However, Mbeumo’s strike was voted by fans as the pick of the goals scored last month, and it was certainly a thing of beauty. Crafted by Fernandes himself, the goal showcased that fearful combination of the Portuguese’s creativity coupled with the Cameroonian’s running and goalscoring prowess.
Taking the ball in his own half, the United No. 8 was quick to notice Mbeumo’s run and unleashed a beautiful first-time lofted ball that split open the opposition backline. The Cameroonian allowed the ball to bounce, noticed that Ipswich Town goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen had come out of the penalty box, and had the presence of mind to lift the ball over him.
The strike was timed to perfection, but there was a momentary panic across Old Trafford as Jacob Greaves attempted to clear it off the line. However, the English defender failed in his endeavour and the Theatre of Dreams erupted in celebration.
Final Thoughts
Mbeumo also won United’s Goal of the Month for August 2025, with his first Premier League strike for the club against Burnley last season. Fans will be hoping the Cameroonian can deliver once again this campaign, and initial signs indicate that they will not be disappointed.
