Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot delivered a rousing message after reaching a significant club milestone.
Landmark feat
Dalot made his 250th United appearance during Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford.
He was named in the starting XI by Michael Carrick. He endured a difficult game as Erling Haaland’s controversial 60th-minute strike denied United a share of the spoils.
The Portugal international struggled against Antoine Semenyo, making multiple defensive lapses that nearly proved costly for the Red Devils.
A sublime Bruno Fernandes cross put it on a plate for him, but he couldn’t quite connect properly to force Gianluigi Donnarumma into action.
Dalot’s 250th appearance for United may have fizzled out into a whimper, but the milestone itself is nothing to scoff at. He has come a long way since Jose Mourinho greenlit his move from Porto in 2018.

The 27-year-old has been deployed all over the pitch and even had a loan spell at AC Milan along the way.
Reaction
Dalot said, “It is a huge honour to continue writing history with this club. I arrived here very young, hoping to stay long enough to experience moments and achievements like these.”
“Reaching 250 appearances for Manchester United, in a game as special as the Manchester derby, makes this milestone even more meaningful.”
He added, “This club is built to compete at the highest level, in the biggest matches and for the most important trophies, and I am proud to have helped Manchester United along this journey.”
“But the work is far from finished, and this landmark is another step in the journey to the ultimate goal: winning titles wearing the Manchester United shirt.”
Dalot and his United teammates will be eager to make amends on Wednesday when they face Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the FA Cup.
