Manchester United reportedly turned down a loan offer from Derby County for Harry Amass.

Amass’ future had been the subject of intense speculation over the summer, amidst a belief that United were prepared to offload him.
A product of the Carrington academy, he spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and later Norwich City, with reports suggesting he was eager to push on in his career and establish himself as a regular starter away from Old Trafford.
It was suggested that United placed a valuation of only £6m on the player, a sum that provoked considerable discontent among supporters.
In the days before the transfer window slammed shut, talk of Amass leaving United ramped up. Burnley held talks over the possibility of both a loan and a permanent exit. Wolverhampton Wanderers also considered a swoop, as did West Ham and Norwich.
But it soon became clear Amass wasn’t going anywhere. He’ll now stay at United until January, when his situation will be revisited.
The Athletic have now revealed Amass also attracted interest from Portugal and the Bundesliga. There was a late offer from Derby County, which United rebuffed.
The state of play on Amass
Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic writes, “Harry Amass is still in the building after United held firm on spending in that position.”
“Amass, 19, had interest from more than a dozen clubs across the window — including Sporting CP in Portugal, Wolfsburg in Germany, Celtic in Scotland, as well as Championship sides Stoke City, Birmingham City, Millwall, Queens Park Rangers and Burnley, who saw a bid worth around £3.5million rejected.”
“Late on United decided they could countenance a loan, with Derby County making a proposal, but they chose to keep Amass.”
Attention now turns to Michael Carrick and how he plans to utilise the teenager this season. The most sensible course of action would be to deploy him as cover and competition for Luke Shaw.
United are next in action on Sunday when they go away to Everton.
