Manchester United’s poor start to the season has been compounded by the fact that their players are dropping like flies due to injury during the international break.
So far, Bruno Fernandes, Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu, and Noussair Mazraoui have all picked up knocks, while Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford have withdrawn from the England camp due to niggles.
Adding to this, Manuel Ugarte and Matthijs de Ligt’s long-term injuries mean Michael Carrick could be running out of options just before the club’s crucial Premier League clash against fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur.
However, a glimmer of hope has emerged as Amad appears to be inching closer to a return from his own injury, which the Ivorian suffered in the build-up to the Hull City game.
Amad back in training
According to the reliable Sully, the 24-year-old has returned to group training after making positive strides during his recovery process.
“It has now been revealed that the Ivorian international is back in training on grass. Roundtable understands that the 24-year-old is making positive progress in recovery, is doing grass work, while pushing hard to make his return to action.

“Sources state that Amad was with the group which went on duty training today, although there is no clear scheduled return date just yet.”
United have been a mess in the Ivory Coast international’s absence. Bryan Mbeumo, who is much more adept as a false nine, has been forced to play out wide, while Matheus Cunha has started up top.
United’s attack has lacked balance without Amad
The Brazilian showed that he excels more as a left-winger last season, but Carrick has had no option but to shuffle the pack.
This has resulted in the attack losing its balance, which has caused the team to struggle to score consistently.
The impending return of Amad could finally allow Carrick to deploy his players in their preferred positions.
With the head coach’s future also uncertain, he will need the left-footed magician to hit the ground running should he make the squad for the Tottenham Hotspur match.
