After almost no wins in two months, Manchester United produced another comeback for the ages as they beat AS Roma 3-2 in the Champions League.
The win will do the squad a world of good, considering the pressure they have been under, and it will also ease the scrutiny on Michael Carrick.
However, the victory will not mean much if the Red Devils cannot carry that momentum into their all-important Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Kobbie Mainoo was asked by Amazon Prime about the tactical changes that revitalised the 20-time English league champions against the Serie A giants.
Carrick’s new bold approach
The Carrington graduate explained the head coach’s demands and sent a timely reminder to the Villans about United’s threat moving forward.
“The boss really drilled it into us that we needed to be more active and, you know, go and take the game ourselves.
We know what we’re capable of. We know we’re a dangerous team and we know we can change the game whenever. It’s just about everything coming together at the right time. Hopefully, we’ll carry that on for the rest of the season.”
Interestingly, the mood within the group has changed considerably, with the players hellbent on delivering on the pitch for the club’s fans who have stuck by the team through thick and thin.
Kobbie Mainoo vows to do it for the fans
“Everyone’s buzzing, you know, and obviously there’s a big sigh of relief. Now we just need to carry on. You know, we’d do anything for these fans on that pitch. All the love that they give us throughout the season, it’s only right that we repay them.”
Another special night at Old Trafford awaits. The stadium can do magic, as the Giallorossi found out to their detriment.
The West Midlands team could also be in for a rude shock, provided Carrick gets his tactics and selection spot on, as he also knows what works and what does not.
United will also come face-to-face with Unai Emery, the manager tipped to be Carrick’s ideal successor. However, Villa are close to agreeing a new long-term deal with the Spaniard.

“Provided Carrick gets his tactics right and team selection spot on”. Thats spot on in pointing out what has been wrong so far. Carrick has got both wrong in every match. Will he change? That is the change that Utd has been crying out for the whole season
