Both midfielders are accomplished passers, capable of dictating the tempo of the play from deep. Kobbie Mainoo also thrives with the ball at his feet.
However, United lack legs and intensity in the middle of the park, which has led to the club targeting athletic midfielders.

Manchester United’s dream target remains Real Madrid defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who is considered a cheat code in transition.
Earlier today, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have enquired about the Frenchman amid Real’s reported interest in Rodri. However, this pursuit is going to be far from straightforward, given Tchouameni is not too keen to depart the Spanish capital.
Meanwhile, journalist Sam Cohen has claimed that Bournemouth’s midfield engine Tyler Adams is among those on a list of options that United are considering signing.

Tyler Adams is better than Rodri in some aspects
It has been previously reported that Bournemouth might be willing to sell Adams for £40-50m, with his contract at the south coast club due to expire in less than 24 months.
Adams is known for his relentless energy and ball-winning ability. He was a key part of Andoni Iraola’s high-intensity setup at Bournemouth.
The Cherries star is thought to be highly admired by United’s analysts, who claim the American is statistically better than Manchester City’s Ballon d’Or winner Rodri in some aspects.
Meanwhile, United have raided City to strengthen their academy midfield, having secured the services of David Eze and Karim Cassim.
