Manchester United Women have said goodbye to another long-term servant at the club.

Big summer

After finishing the season without a trophy and missing out on European qualification, United Women have significant work to do this summer.

They have already reportedly agreed a deal with Spanish fullback Andrea Medina from Atletico Madrid.

With reports of Ella Toone, Melvine Malard and Elisabeth Terland possibly leaving the club this summer, it could be a summer of dramatic change for Marc Skinner’s side.

Hannah Blundell

One player who will not be continuing with United beyond the summer is Hannah Blundell.

The English fullback joined the club from Chelsea in 2021 after spending eight years there. She won four Women’s Super League trophies in West London.

All in all, she played 95 times for United, scoring three goals and winning the FA Cup in 2024.

She also won the 2022/23 United Women Players’ Player of the Year award.

Blundell spent half of last season on loan at Everton, playing in 12 matches.

Departure

United’s official website has announced, “Manchester United Women can confirm that defender Hannah Blundell has now left the club, upon the expiration of her contract.”

Leah Galton also played her final game for the club last season as she departs as a free agent, with United’s squad overhaul continuing.

The team signed off, “everyone at the club would like to thank Hannah and Leah for their contributions to Manchester United. We wish you both the very best of luck for the future.”

The United Women full-back signed off the season and her loan spell with an impressive win for Everton.

She played the full 90 minutes in the Toffees’ 1-0 win over Leicester City.

Blundell made one tackle, an interception, and won three of her four ground duels.

She also made one key pass and completed one of her two cross attempts in the match.

The veteran full-back completed 83% of her passes successfully but was unable to complete her only dribble attempt of the match.

Enzo Kana-Biyik

The French youngster made his first start since January in FC Lausanne-Sport’s 1-3 defeat to Grasshoppers.

He played the first 45 minutes with little to no impact on the game.

The striker had one shot on goal but it did not threaten the keeper or the goal significantly.

He failed in both his dribble attempts and was unable to complete a key pass during his time on the pitch.

Kana-Biyik completed 73% of his passes and failed to complete a dribble attempt in a rather poor showing for the Swiss side.

It will be considered a disappointing loan for the youngster, as he only managed one goal all season and rarely made much of an impact.

Jadon Sancho

Sancho played the final few minutes of Aston Villa’s 4-2 win over Liverpool in the league, which ensured the Merseysiders would certainly finish below United in the league table this season.

The English winger will hope he gets the chance to play in the Europa League final this Wednesday against Freiburg.

Onana’s Trabzonspor made it to the final of the Turkish Cup after a 2-1 win over Gençlerbirliği S.K.

The Cameroonian suffered an injury scare in the last match but was able to start in this crucial match and made two saves in the game.

There was little he could do for Erk Arda Aslan’s opener as he curled in a ferocious strike from range.

Moments later, he made an important stop down to his right to stop the home side going 2-0 up.

He also completed 100% of his passes and carried the ball forward six times. Onana made three recoveries in the match.

Marcus Rashford

Rashford played 90 minutes in a heavily rotated Barcelona side’s 0-1 loss to Deportivo Alaves.

He completed 86% of his passes but could not connect with any of his four cross attempts.

Rashford had three shots on goal, one of which was blocked by the home side’s defence.

He also completed three dribbles in the match. The Manchester United attacker also helped out defensively, winning six duels and making a clearance.

She started at right-back for the Toffees and made one tackle and three clearances.

Blundell also won a total of two duels in the game. She completed 79% of her passes and failed to complete any of her cross attempts or a key pass in attack.

She had a shot on goal but it did not trouble the keeper either.

Andre Onana

The Cameroonian keeper could do little to prevent Trabzonspor falling to a 1-2 defeat to Konyaspor.

Onana was the hero midweek as his side progressed to the semi-final of the cup with a huge helping hand from the keeper. He saved an impressive three penalties in the shootout and also kept a clean sheet during regular time.

In the league match yesterday, he was also involved with four stops, with three shots coming from inside the area. Onana will be disappointed with the first goal he conceded, though, as he parried the ball from a long-range shot right into the path of Burkan Kutlu, who headed home the rebound.

The 30-year-old also did not cover himself in glory when he dived too low and was beaten at his near post by the same player just before half-time. The United keeper conceded a third late on when he could not prevent the ball landing in the bottom corner, but the effort was finally concluded to be offside.

He completed 87% of his passes but did not make any high claims, clearances, or win any duels during his side’s damaging defeat.

They are now two points behind Fenerbahce in the race for the Champions League places.

She made 100% of her tackles and one interception in the match.

She was poor from an attacking perspective, though, as she did not make any key passes or complete any dribbles as her side was pegged back by last season’s champions.

The international break meant that there were far fewer club matches ongoing, but Ethan Ennis still played for Fleetwood Town.

Ethan Ennis

The 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes of Fleetwood Town’s 1-1 draw with Swindon Town.

He made one key pass in the match and attempted an impressive 12 crosses.

Unfortunately, he was only able to find a teammate with two of his efforts from out wide. He also completed 71% of his passes in the match.

Ennis also had three shots, one of which was saved and another that was blocked by the defence. He also won an impressive five duels but was unable to win either of his tackle attempts.

The young winger will next be in action when Fleetwood Town travel to face Bristol Rovers on Good Friday.

Blundell played 86 minutes in Everton Women’s 2-3 defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

With her side visiting the Progress with Unity Stadium last week, she was unable to play against her parent club.

She won her only tackle attempt and also made one clearance in the match for her team.

The full-back also won two of her ground duels but was dribbled past on one occasion.

Blundell was also effective in attack, completing her only dribble attempt in the match. Her passing was less accurate, as she completed only 76% of her attempts.

She also failed to have any shots on target during what was a close match.

Everton Women will next be in action when they face Chelsea on 26th April.

Devaney has been gaining valuable first-team experience in the Scottish Premiership for St Mirren.

He played the entire 90 minutes of their closely-fought 0-1 defeat to title challengers Glasgow Rangers. Devaney was excellent on the ball, completing 94% of his passes on the day.

The youngster also completed his only dribble attempt in the match. He was highly involved, having 70 touches of the ball and did not shy away despite facing such illustrious opponents.

Devaney also won five of his ground duels and two tackles in a strong, combative display. He also made two interceptions and one clearance in a good defensive showing for his side.

Devaney could next be in action when St Mirren face Falkirk on Saturday afternoon, when he could come up against fellow United youngster Ethan Williams.

Jacob Devaney versus Rangers

Enzo Kana-Biyik

The young French star played the final eight minutes in a 0-2 defeat to Young Boys for FC Lausanne-Sport.

He made one key pass in the match but failed to have a shot during his limited time on the pitch. Kana-Biyik did win his only aerial duel in the game, though, as he tried to help his side find a consolation goal.

His teammate Sekou Kone did not get off the bench in the match.

The United duo could be in action next Sunday when Lausanne travel to Luzern.

United Women had a disappointing day, losing the League Cup final 0-2 to Chelsea, but their loanee Blundell was successful.

She helped Everton Women to an impressive 2-1 win away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Blundell made one tackle, two clearances, and one interception in the game.

She also completed 100% of her ground duels and managed to play one key pass in the game.

The full-back will not feature in Everton’s next game as they travel to the Progress with Unity Stadium to take on United next Saturday lunchtime.

Nonetheless, he found it hard to make an impression in his side’s 2-2 draw with AS Roma in the league. He played the entire 90 minutes of the game but only managed two shots on goal, both of which were blocked by the Roman defence.

Hojlund also did not complete any key passes or successful dribble attempts during the match.

He was also poor in his duels, winning just two of his seven ground contests.

The striker did slightly better in the air, coming out on top in two of his four aerial duels.

Hojlund will next face his former club Atalanta on Sunday in Serie A.

The Manchester United winger has seen much more game time at Aston Villa since Christmas.

At the start of the season, he was largely restricted to Europa League appearances, but he has started to gain much more experience in the league over the last five or six weeks.

Sancho started and played 77 minutes of Aston Villa’s 0-1 home defeat to Brentford.

The 25-year-old completed two key passes and one of his two cross attempts.

He also completed 84% of his passes and had one shot on goal, which was blocked by Brentford’s resolute defence.

Sancho also made two of his three dribble attempts and had seven progressive carries in the match as the Villans searched for an equalising goal.

He also won 100% of his aerial duels and two out of three ground contests in an all-round positive display for Unai Emery’s side.

Sancho and Aston Villa will next be in action in a tough-looking away trip to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

Onana played the full 90 minutes of Trabzonspor’s 2-1 win over Kasımpaşa S.K.

The victory keeps Onana’s team right in the title fight, as they are currently third, just two points behind leaders Galatasaray.

His first real involvement came after 48 minutes, when he did well to keep out a header at the back post by the visitors.

He had no answer in the 61st minute, though, when a curling effort by Fousseni Diabate gave him no chance, dipping into the bottom right-hand corner.

The 29-year-old had a quiet evening, only being called into action on one occasion.

Onana also made one high claim to alleviate the pressure from his defenders.

He was also effective on the ball, as he tends to be, completing 84% of his passes. The keeper also made one clearance and six defensive recoveries for his side.

Onana will be in action again next Friday when his side travel to Antalyaspor.

She was also strong on the ball, completing 89% of her passes, but was unsuccessful with her one dribble up the pitch.

Manchester United have made a decision regarding one of their longest-serving players.

Busy January

United have been impressive this season, reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup and the Round of 16 in the Champions League.

They have already completed deals for Hanna Lundkvist and Lea Schuller, and are close to finalising a deal for Ellen Wangerheim.

There have also been departures, as Rachel Williams has left for Leicester City and Geyse is on the verge of completing a move to Club América.

Hannah Blundell exit

Manchester United have also sanctioned a deal for Hannah Blundell to leave the club on a temporary basis.

She joined United from Chelsea in 2021 and has spent five years at the club, making 95 appearances for the side.

Blundell gave birth to her child in March 2025 and, as a result, missed the entire 2024–2025 campaign.

She became the first professional Manchester United player to return to the pitch after having a baby when she came on as a substitute against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Everton loan

The club’s official website reported that, “Manchester United defender Hannah Blundell has joined fellow WSL side Everton on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season.”

The site continues to state that “this will be her first loan spell away from the club, something both the Reds and Everton can benefit from”, as she intends to build up minutes and fitness after her extended period of time out of action.

Speaking to the Everton site, Blundell commented on her move.

She explained, “I am really excited! I can’t wait to get going and meet all the girls and our fans.”

Blundell added, “Everton have got an amazing history – that is something I cannot wait to be a part of. I know some of the players which makes it a lot easier coming in. I am sure I am going to get along with all the girls – they seem like a great group and are fantastic players.”
