Manchester United are languishing in seventeenth place in the Premier League table, having last won a match more than two months ago.
Michael Carrick’s tactics have not helped, but it is clear that INEOS’ transfer failings and the collective underperformance from the squad are mainly to blame.
The players had vowed to put their best foot forward against Chelsea and it certainly did look that way in the first half before Lisandro Martinez flipped the script on its head.
Among the players who have failed to pull their weight this season is Senne Lammens. Is he the biggest culprit? Not by a long shot, but the Belgian has looked a shadow of his former self.
Senne Lammens has not looked as assured as last season
After a fantastic debut season, the 24-year-old has looked shaky in goal this term, with his shot-stopping, decision-making, and his reluctance to leave the line all coming under fire.
The biggest flaw with the former Royal Antwerp man is his inability to build play from the back, something Carrick’s possession-based style demands.
Interestingly, Fussball News have claimed that INEOS have looked at this and are studying the feasibility of signing another young keeper capable of challenging for the No. 1 jersey.
Dennis Seimen of VfB Stuttgart has caught the eye of the 20-time English league champions with his reflexes, ability to command his area, and most importantly, his playmaking ability.
INEOS looking at alternatives
The Red Devils are not the only European giants eyeing the 20-year-old, with Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid also having their eyes on the German.
Stuttgart are aware of the interest their young goalkeeper is generating and have slapped a €25–30 million price tag on his head.
