Amad: Al-Hilal will target Man United winger on one condition

Manchester United and Al-Hilal look set to clash once again as the Saudi Pro League club have added Amad to their shortlist of targets this summer, according to a new report.

Round One

Manchester United had identified West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville as their “No.1 target” on the left wing, provided an exit for Marcus Rashford could be sealed to make room for the 24-year-old Netherlands international.

The Hammers’ relegation had given hope of a cut-price deal for an ambipedal winger capable of playing on both flanks. INEOS were understood to value him at around £30 million.

But West Ham stuck to their guns over a £50 million price tag – a position which was strengthened by Summerville’s superb performances at the World Cup for his country, where he notched two goals and two assists in four games.

This proved prohibitive for United, as it did in their pursuit of Summerville’s teammate, Mateus Fernandes. In exactly the same fashion, they were beaten to the punch by a club simply willing to outbid them, even if the player’s preference was Old Trafford.

Al-Hilal stormed into the race for Summerville last week, quickly agreeing a £60 million fee with West Ham. A massive contract proposal, worth around £275,000 a week, was also tabled to get the player’s green light.

The Blue Waves, who finished two points behind champions Al-Nassr last season, are not resting on their laurels, however. The Riyadh side are intent on signing a right-winger to complement Summerville on the left – which sets up another potential clash, or two, with the Red Devils.

Round Two

Paddy Keogh (Attacking Football) reveals Paris Saint-Germain superstar Ousmane Dembele, 27, is Al-Hilal’s “priority target” to complete Simone Inzaghi’s forward line this summer – and they are prepared to spend exorbitant amounts to make it happen.

Nonetheless, a deal for the reigning Ballon d’Or holder will prove extremely difficult, even with the embarrassment of riches on offer in the Saudi Pro League. Dembele remains at the height of his powers, and will be motivated to win a record-breaking third Champions League title on the bounce with PSG.

Should Al-Hilal be unable to prise the France international from the Parc des Princes, attention will turn to Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye. Talks are expected this week with the Senegalese speedster, who Keogh describes as the “main alternative” to Dembele.

Manchester United hold a long-standing interest in Ndiaye, with the 26-year-old a target under “serious consideration” this summer. INEOS want a “versatile forward” to bolster Michael Carrick’s frontline.

Were United to be outmuscled for another Premier League winger by Al-Hilal, there would be a series of expletives ringing down the corridors of power at Old Trafford. Yet there is a third potential point of friction between the two clubs in the form of an Ivorian magician.

Final Thoughts – Round Three?

Should Al-Hilal prove unsuccessful in their pursuit of Dembele and Ndiaye, Keogh reveals Amad is a player “admired” at the Kingdom Arena. The 24-year-old winger “remains on the shortlist” of the Saudi club, despite Manchester United’s insistence he is not for sale.

Carrick is understood to be a huge fan of Amad, as are his teammates and sporting director Jason Wilcox, who believes he has “immense potential”. The Abidjan native offers a perfect complement to the more direct Bryan Mbeumo on the right-hand side for United. But if an eye-watering offer were to arrive for his services, would INEOS be able to resist the temptation to cash in on a player with an obvious replacement already in the squad?
