Manchester United Women dropped more vital points in the race for European football.

Lea Schuller grabbed a 94th-minute goal but United still could only secure a 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion Women.

Leah Galton exit

It was announced earlier in the week that United star Leah Galton would be leaving the club at the end of the season when her contract expired.

The Englishwoman was one of the original players who started with the club in 2018, like Ella Toone and Millie Turner.

The 31-year-old played the final eight minutes of the match and spoke to the club’s media after the match.

Reflecting on her time at the club, she said, “I have so many memories. Even today, seeing everyone out here, it is making me emotional, it’s really nice.”

“I think that’s going to be the hardest thing, not seeing these guys everyday. It’s going to be weird, it is going to be strange but I am not going to be a stranger. I will be around, you haven’t seen the last of me.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBCEF5ikBi" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 7000px; aspect-ratio: 7000/4667;" ></smartframe-embed>

Her future

Opening up on her future, she said it was a sad day for herself and her family and friends, but at the same time, it was also exciting.

She explained, “it is something new and something different but also just leaving your home is weird. I is hard and not something you ever want to do but I think the time is right. I’m going to miss the girls and I’m going to miss the fans.”

Speaking directly to the fans at the end of her interview, she said, “thank you. Thank you for the support, thank you for turning up even when things are hard. We are a big club and we have ups and downs all the time but I think the main thing is that everyone has stuck with us.”

She also expressed that she sees the club having a positive future without her.

Galton elaborated, “I think you can see from this season that we are going places. It is exciting and I hope the girls will go on and take it even further.”

Marc Skinner spoke to the club’s website after another disappointing result for his Manchester United Women’s team.

Resilience

The Red Devils drew 1-1 with Brighton & Hove Albion, all but ensuring they will not qualify for the Champions League next season.

Commenting on the match, Skinner said, “look, I can’t stress enough, Brighton’s game plan was to sit back and counter us, press high and they’ve got the goal from the press. We are disappointed with the goal, we should be able to play simply out of that situation. It is what it is.”

The manager also praised his side’s resilience in getting back into the game and scoring a 94th-minute equaliser.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="1ffbae35d432d0d71911ca2a0b209fbb" image-id="prsiHNHufUSe" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4863px; aspect-ratio: 4863/3242;" ></smartframe-embed>

Lea Schuller

He also singled out January signing Lea Schuller for special praise after her goal.

Skinner explained, “congratulations to Lea Schuller, if we serve her in the box, she will score goals. We need to be better, we need to do better at that.”

The manager was also asked about what Brighton did well to stop United creating many chances, but he instead decided to focus on what United struggled to do themselves.

He elaborated, “honestly sometimes it is about the opponent, today I don’t think it was. I think it was about missing little bits of quality, little bits of incision, with the right weight at the right time. We do need to be able to supply quickly into that back line. We probably played backwards a little too much in the first half and we need to be more aggressive with the ball. A couple of times we were offside and we shouldn’t be. So these are all factors that you have to take into account. No excuses, we didn’t take the three points but the players have shown that resilience not to give up in the game.”

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93" image-id="neim0uTLLTsL" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2460px; aspect-ratio: 2460/1640;" ></smartframe-embed>

Chelsea

United have one more match left in the season, when they travel to face Chelsea, and he explained what his side need to do to get the win.

He stated, “against Chelsea, everyone is accountable. All of us need to stand up and give absolutely everything and that is key to beating teams like Chelsea.”

Leah Galton

Finally, Leah Galton received a warm round of applause when she came on as a substitute for the final time at the Progress with Unity Stadium as a Manchester United player.

It was announced earlier in the week that she will be leaving at the end of the season, and Skinner praised her impact on the club.

He explained, “you can see how much she means to people. To be an original, someone who started with the team, that is incredible in modern sport. Leah deserves a lot of credit for what she has given to Manchester United.”

Marcus Rashford

Rashford helped his side all but secure the Spanish league trophy with a 2-1 win away to Osasuna.

The victory means they are 14 points ahead, with Real Madrid only able to win a maximum of 15 from their remaining five matches. If Madrid drop points away to Espanyol tonight, Rashford will win a league title this weekend.

Rashford came on as a second-half substitute and his sublime cross was met by Robert Lewandowski, who headed home the winner.

He also had one shot on goal as well as his assist. The winger made one key pass and completed 83% of his passes.

Ethan Ennis

Ennis impressed once more as Fleetwood Town drew 1-1 with MK Dons.

The flying winger has been outstanding for the Cod Army this season and made four key passes in the match.

He created two big chances and won 100% of his tackles. Ennis also won a total of five duels in a highly combative performance.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="1ffbae35d432d0d71911ca2a0b209fbb" image-id="prsiSRsEznoD" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4000px; aspect-ratio: 4000/2666;" ></smartframe-embed>

Radek Vitek

Vitek kept a clean sheet as Bristol City beat Stoke City 2-0.

He made two saves, with one shot coming from inside the area. The Czech keeper also made two high claims and punched the ball clear to keep his area safe.

The Czech keeper has completed another outstanding loan spell and won numerous awards with Bristol City to reward his effort.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="1ffbae35d432d0d71911ca2a0b209fbb" image-id="prsiusMCwgdk" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5400px; aspect-ratio: 5400/3598;" ></smartframe-embed>

Dan Gore

The midfielder played 90 minutes in Rotherham United’s 2-3 loss to Wycombe Wanderers.

He made one key pass and completed an impressive 91% of his passes. Gore also completed two out of three dribble attempts but failed to win a tackle.

He was strong defensively, though, winning six duels and making two interceptions and two clearances for his team.

Jacob Devaney

The Irishman got another 90 minutes under his belt as St Mirren lost 0-1 to Dundee.

He made two key passes in the match and completed a tidy 90% of his passes.

Devaney had two shots on goal, one that was stopped by the keeper and another that was blocked.

He also completed 100% of his dribbles and tackles in an impressive midfield showing.

Andre Onana

Onana made one save as Trabzonspor drew 1-1 with Goztepe.

He had two key passes and completed one run out to clear the danger.

Rasmus Hojlund

The Danish striker failed to exert much influence once again as SSC Napoli drew 0-0 with Como.

He had one shot that was blocked by the defence. Hojlund did complete one key pass and his only dribble attempt, though.

Hojlund was poor in the air, losing all eight of his aerial duels as he was bullied by the Como defence.

Manchester United Women’s chances of European football are all but over after failing to beat Brighton & Hove Albion.

First half

The visitors had the first chance when Caitlin Haynes headed over from a corner.

Jelena Čanković was next to test the United defence, but her effort just sailed over Phallon Tullis-Joyce’s crossbar.

United had their first chance when Melvine Malard was released down the left-hand side. The Frenchwoman ran at the Seagulls’ defence, cut in, and her fierce effort was well stopped by the keeper.

The Red Devils were brutally punished after 39 minutes when Tullis-Joyce’s poor pass was not kept under control by Hinata Miyazawa, and Čanković received the ball, rounded the keeper, and slid the ball into the empty net to give Brighton the lead.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="c78749ece7fd074ea5dc1889e7c53f0f" image-id="esmeRa0FkNMz" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2170px; aspect-ratio: 2170/1447;" ></smartframe-embed>

Marc Skinner’s side almost responded before half-time, but Ella Toone’s hanging cross found the crossbar with Chiamaka Nnadozie all at sea in the Brighton goal. The half-time whistle blew, and United had much work to do at Leigh Sports Village.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="1ffbae35d432d0d71911ca2a0b209fbb" image-id="prsiW4Lfl519" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3270px; aspect-ratio: 3270/2180;" ></smartframe-embed>

Second half

United started well, and Malard’s sublime cross-field ball picked out Jess Park, who ran at the defence but dragged her left-footed effort wide.

It was the Seagulls who almost doubled their lead when a teasing ball into the box was only just missed by Madison Haley.

Ellen Wangerheim thought she was through on goal to score her first United goal, but she was called offside.

Lea Schüller also came on as a substitute and rescued a point for the Red Devils in the 94th minute in dramatic style.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="1ffbae35d432d0d71911ca2a0b209fbb" image-id="prsihI8ztu5v" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3499px; aspect-ratio: 3499/2333;" ></smartframe-embed>

Malard’s deflected cross fell kindly to the German, and she showed great instinct to half-volley the ball into the corner.

The goal spared defeat but almost guaranteed no European football for next season.

The women will play their final game of the season on Saturday, 16th May, away to Chelsea.

Michael Carrick has been speaking to the media in the embargoed section of the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

As Brighton lost today, the Red Devils need just one point to secure Champions League football next season, something that seemed like a pipedream when the Wallsend man took the reins in January.

Amad’s form

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93" image-id="neimI74ECHqX" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3565px; aspect-ratio: 3565/2376;" ></smartframe-embed>

The first question was “Amad was really good against Liverpool at Anfield in October. I just wanted to know what you thought about his performances since you’ve come into the club. He’s not scored or assisted since December, and what do you think he can do to improve?”

Carrick answered:
“I actually think he’s playing well, Amad. Numbers in terms of goals and assists, I think there’s an awful lot more in the game, playing in a winning team like he has, to worry about numbers. I think he’s He gives the team so much. He’s got so much talent, he’s got so much ability, but his work ethic and his attitude is fantastic as well and played different roles at times.”

“I’m a big fan of Amad. I think he was unlucky, unfortunate after we had to change things tactically the other night and it was purely on that why he came off, but he’s given the team an awful lot and it’s the underbelly of what goes into the performance, not always what the headline grabs that actually provides you or prove to be as a team that’s going to be successful and Amad’s part of that.”

Doing the double over Liverpool

Carrick was then asked “the last time United did a double over Liverpool at Anfield, you were in the stands in the away end. What were your memories of that? How big a buzz was that?”

He replied:
“I’d have rather been on the pitch at that point, but I was injured. Yeah, we took the opportunity to go. I’ve done it a number of times, to go in the away end and sample it and feel it and be that connected to it to understand it. So yeah, when Wayne scored, there was a bit of celebrating going on and you kind of lose yourself for a moment or two. Really good memories of it. It’s been a while obviously since we did that. Hopefully we can produce another good result on Sunday.”

The next reporter asked:
“After the game the other night you said that while Champions League football is obviously something you want to qualify for, you didn’t want to over-celebrate it. Is that a message that you’re having to give to the players, or do they already know that while Champions League football is a big thing, they should be sort of aiming higher than that?”

The boss replied:
“I just think it’s the mindset really throughout. Sometimes that comes from me in terms of setting the agenda, setting the goals, setting the targets. But I think the boys are hungry enough and understand enough about this club and where we want to be, how we want it to look, that we’re not going to get carried away with certain things.”

“It’s a good step, you know, it’s huge progress in terms of being at this stage, what they went through as a group last season, and to be now in the position of fighting for and in the position towards the top of the league, it’s a big jump and a big step. So they need to take a lot of credit for that as a playing group and a squad. But they certainly understand that it’s another step and we want to keep trying to achieve more than that.”

“On that theme,” the next reporter followed, “we spoke to Mason [Mount] on Tuesday and he said that this club, these players want to challenge for the title, and it sounded like he might even be thinking next season. But I wondered from your perspective, what’s that like to hear, you know, as a manager? And also, [does it feel like] it could be a realistic opportunity, given the way that the season’s fluctuated for Arsenal, Man City … Liverpool, as we’ve seen, have been title champions last season, but have fallen away this season.”

“To win the league is the ultimate aim, it especially takes an awful lot, I think, for the boys to feel confident and have the hope and that belief that it’s possible at some point around the corner, then that’s exactly where we want to be,” Carrick answered. “And how close you are, time will tell, you know. And I’m not going to be making any major statements with that one, but I think it’s again the improvement of the group, the results that we’ve had against the teams that we’ve had, I think gives the boys a lot of confidence and we need to keep making good steps.”

He was then asked if he’d watched the PSG-Bayern game “and if so, is that kind of the standard of attacking that United and other teams should be kind of aspiring to? Does a game like that also kind of whet the appetite for a return to that level of competition?”

Carrick responded:
“Certainly, to want to be involved in those type of nights late in competitions, Champions League, of course, that’s fortunate enough to do it in the past and the great occasions and you want to be testing yourself at a very, very top level. So yeah, that’s what we’re striving for, without doubt.”

“It was a fantastic game to watch. I’m sure Woody and Jonny as centre-backs and as defenders and defending line, they were all thinking the same as the attackers. But that’s football, you know, it’s It was a fantastic game to watch and all to play for next week.”

Mohamed Salah missing the game

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="84d65181a95c24c4fea73e44b4e27a17" image-id="ltKDZIG6WLfx" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3086px; aspect-ratio: 3086/2057;" ></smartframe-embed>

“Can you put into words just what a pain [Salah] has been basically [to United] and what a boost it is not having him up against you on Sunday?”

The manager replied:
“Yeah, I fully respect what he’s achieved, It’s been tough for us at times to watch it and obviously be against us, but a lot of respect for what he’s done for Liverpool, for the league, and the level of performance that he’s produced for so long. So everything does come to an end at some stage and he’s obviously not involved in the game, but we wish him all the best for whatever’s next.”

“Would you rather be not facing him, than having to face him on Sunday?” the reporter asked.

“I’m certainly not going to say that because they’ve got some good players and they’ve got a very good squad and some good individuals, so I won’t be going that far,” Carrick said. “But listen, he’s been one of the best that have graced this great league for so long, so full credit to him for that.”

Manchester United supporters are reportedly set to honour Diogo Jota when Liverpool make their way to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Winning run

United will be looking to make it three victories in as many games when they come up against Arne Slot’s men, who sit just three points behind them in fourth place.

The Red Devils’ last two wins, against Chelsea and Brentford, have left them on the verge of securing Champions League football. United need just two points from their remaining four games to mathematically book their spot in the competition next season.

Under interim boss Michael Carrick, United have won nine of their 13 league games (including six out of seven at home) and top the overall form table for that timeframe.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="84d65181a95c24c4fea73e44b4e27a17" image-id="ltKDdHLpkZgr" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2372px; aspect-ratio: 2372/1694;" ></smartframe-embed>

When the two bitter rivals meet in the reverse fixture in October at Anfield, United won 2-1 thanks to strikes from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire.

According to Sport Bible, United supporters are planning a tribute for the late Diogo Jota.

Jota tribute

Sport Bible report that United supporters have been encouraged to join their counterparts in a moment of applause to honour Jota.

Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva tragically lost their lives in a car accident in Spain last July, only weeks after Jota had wed his childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso.

When United travelled to Anfield, then-manager Ruben Amorim was joined by Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot to lay a wreath. United supporters are due to applaud in the 20th minute, marking the shirt number Jota famously sported at Liverpool.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93" image-id="neim9nvEA90x" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 6000px; aspect-ratio: 6000/4000;" ></smartframe-embed>

Journalist David McDonnell notes, “The proposal has been forwarded to the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust [MUST] and it is understood some United players have been made aware of the plan.”

“United have also been informed of the suggested tribute and have indicated that any such tribute should be a fan-led initiative, rather than a formal directive from the club.”

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93" image-id="neimHQxA6c0f" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5644px; aspect-ratio: 5644/3763;" ></smartframe-embed>

“MUST are understood to have encouraged fans to share the idea and gauge support for it within their own supporter groups, with the belief that such proposals have the greatest impact when they evolve organically among the fanbase.”

United vs. Liverpool kicks off at 15:30 BST.

Manchester United have long been linked with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, but the move has never materialised. The Dutchman is considered one of the finest midfielders of his generation, with his ability to dictate play earning him admirers at clubs across the continent.

De Jong has been a first-team regular for the Catalans ever since arriving from Ajax in the summer of 2019. His future, though, was subject to intense speculation a couple of years ago, when Erik ten Hag was in charge at Old Trafford.

The 28 year old rose through the ranks at the Johan Cruyff Arena and had played under the Dutch manager during their time together at Ajax. With United lacking control in the middle of the park, Ten Hag wanted to recruit his former prodigy to address the matter, but the long-drawn saga never saw a fruitful end.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93" image-id="ARCH537010_00273097" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4659px; aspect-ratio: 4659/3106;" ></smartframe-embed>

De Jong has now shed light on how the situation affected him and why he ended up staying at Camp Nou.

No reason to leave Camp Nou

Speaking to The Guardian, De Jong recalled thinking about a move away from Barcelona a few years ago amid interest from United and Chelsea. He said: “Of course, it’s crossed your mind at times, like: ‘OK, what should I do?’”

“So as long as I’m good enough to be a starter here, to make an impact and Barcelona is at the level I want to play at – with the sense that they’ll be competing for the major trophies – then there’s no reason for me to go.”

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="1ffbae35d432d0d71911ca2a0b209fbb" image-id="prsi7n4zFVqe" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2700px; aspect-ratio: 2700/1800;" ></smartframe-embed>

The Dutchman has registered one goal and eight assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona this season.

United remain in the market for a new defensive midfielder but De Jong is no longer among the names currently doing the rounds.

Praise for Marcus Rashford

While a move to United never materialised, De Jong has struck up a close bond with a player who has spent a considerable amount of time at the Theatre of Dreams. Marcus Rashford moved to Camp Nou on a season-long loan last summer and has been a revelation so far.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="c78749ece7fd074ea5dc1889e7c53f0f" image-id="esme6yAbs8oN" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 8100px; aspect-ratio: 8100/5400;" ></smartframe-embed>

The Englishman has shared the pitch with the Dutch midfielder 29 times already this season. De Jong even set up Rashford to score the final goal in the 4-1 win over Espanyol in LaLiga last month.

The Dutchman went on to speak fondly about the United loanee, adding: “A really good guy. Open and kind and he’s also having a big impact for us on the pitch. With his speed and depth, he really adds a lot to our game. And by doing so, he also forces the opponent’s defence to drop back a bit, which creates more space for us in the middle.”

Barcelona have an option to make Rashford’s stay permanent for €30 million this summer. However, a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person suggests they are trying to get a deal done for less.

Final Thoughts

De Jong would have been a fine addition to the starting XI a few years ago, but there was no point pursuing a player who does not want to move to Old Trafford. Instead, the focus should be on signing a capable replacement for Casemiro this summer, with Kobbie Mainoo already showing that he could be the orchestrator United have been craving for all these years.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93" image-id="neimKqln95Br" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2569px; aspect-ratio: 2569/1714;" ></smartframe-embed>

Manchester United are planning to follow the same approach as in the summer of 2022 in a bid to strengthen their midfield.

Casemiro is set to leave United four years after making the bold decision to swap Real Madrid for the struggling Red Devils.

The Brazilian veteran remains United’s most reliable defensive midfielder, but his ageing legs have forced the club to part ways and search for his successor ahead of the next campaign.

Manchester United chasing Aurelien Tchouameni

According to SPORT, Manchester United are attempting to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, the midfielder whom Real Madrid signed from AS Monaco in 2022 to replace Casemiro.

The publication claims that United have “aimed high” by targeting the Frenchman “in a move similar to the one that convinced Casemiro to move from the Bernabéu to Old Trafford.”

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBWEyxid3j" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3500px; aspect-ratio: 3500/2334;" ></smartframe-embed>

Both players share similar profiles in terms of their defensive abilities and physical prowess.

Manchester United plot Casemiro-style raid

However, the pursuit is not straightforward for United, as Real will reportedly not make it easy for their English counterparts to sign Tchouameni. The 26-year-old is under contract until 2028 and has a release clause of €1 billion.

As such, United would have to pay a huge sum to have any chance of signing Tchouameni.

More importantly, the dynamic midfielder’s wishes would be a major factor, according to the report.

Casemiro was allowed to depart the Spanish capital because he requested a change of scenery.

It is understood that Tchouameni’s intentions would be crucial to making the transfer more flexible and repeating the same “modus operandi” as four years ago.

With Champions League football all but secured, Ineos-backed United appear to be in a position to provide an appealing destination to Tchouameni, just as they did to Casemiro, as well as test Real’s resolve.

Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho is in line for a move to Serie A after a move from an Italian club, Sky Sports have revealed.

Time is up

Sancho’s United career has been all but over ever since his public fallout with Erik ten Hag in 2023, and he is expected to finally leave the club when the season ends.

After his spat with the Dutch coach, Sancho was banished from the first team until January 2024, when he was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of the season. He enjoyed a renaissance at the German club, helping them to reach the final of the Champions League.

But despite the success he enjoyed there, Dortmund opted against keeping him permanently. He temporarily returned to United before he was loaned out to Chelsea for the 2024/25 campaign. The Blues had an obligation to buy him last summer but instead paid £5m not to after a poor campaign.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="7cb01038c3a13bcbaf0de8af7020f6a5" image-id="ARCH68558957_47205259" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5837px; aspect-ratio: 5837/3891;" ></smartframe-embed>

Ruben Amorim’s arrival as Ten Hag’s replacement barely improved Sancho’s lot. The England international was shipped out on loan to Aston Villa, where his inconsistency has struck again: just one goal in 35 appearances.

United do have an option to extend Sancho’s contract by another 12 months in order to generate a fee from his departure, but the club would prefer to simply let him leave as a free agent. Dortmund have openly expressed an interest in another reunion.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93" image-id="neimhK8IB9wF" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3068px; aspect-ratio: 3068/2045;" ></smartframe-embed>

According to Sky Sports, a potential move to Italy has also opened up for Sancho.

Sancho transfer update

The news outlet reports, “Interest in Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho is growing.”

“Sky Sports News has been told an unnamed Italian club has made “initial enquiries” over a move this summer.”

“Sancho is currently on loan at Aston Villa and is in no rush to make a decision about his future. He wants to assess all his options in the summer and staying in the Premier League has not been ruled out.”

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="84d65181a95c24c4fea73e44b4e27a17" image-id="ltKDSUR5U4n3" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2823px; aspect-ratio: 2823/2016;" ></smartframe-embed>

Sancho has previously been linked to Juventus and Napoli. AS Roma were also said to be eyeing him last summer but a transfer failed to materialise.

Meanwhile, United are next in action on Sunday when they host bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford. Kick-off is at 15:30 BST.

Casemiro is in the final few weeks of his four-year spell at Manchester United, having joined the club from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.

The 34-year-old appears to be enjoying his time under interim head coach Michael Carrick, consistently scoring and delivering resilient performances to help United return to the Champions League.

The Old Trafford crowd wants “One more year” of the Brazilian veteran, but the decision has already been made for him to leave United at the end of the season, upon the expiration of his contract. Now, all that remains to be seen is where he will land after Manchester.

MLS a “concrete” possibility for Casemiro

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Miami are working on a deal to lure Casemiro to Major League Soccer, having been on his tail since March.

The Italian journalist claims Casemiro remains in talks with the David Beckham-owned club despite interest from Saudi Arabia.

The former Real Madrid man is a priority midfield target for Miami, who have signed the likes of Sergio Busquets and Rodrigo De Paul in recent years to strengthen the area.

The MLS giants are thought to be the most tempting option for the Brazil international among all proposals on the table.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Beckham also tried to sign Harry Maguire, who had entered the final six months of his contract at United.

However, Maguire eventually renewed his deal as he intends to retire at United.

Search for Casemiro’s replacement well underway

United still want to strengthen their backline, but their priority is to find Casemiro‘s replacement in the middle of the park.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBG1vp0BqO" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4734px; aspect-ratio: 4734/3156;" ></smartframe-embed>

Real Madrid defensive midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni has emerged as one of the leading candidates to fill the Brazilian’s void at the Theatre of Dreams.

Real are reluctant to lose the Frenchman. However, the Mancunians may try their luck, four years after tasting success in their pursuit of convincing Casemiro to leave Madrid for Manchester.
